DMACC Finishes 16th at Yellowjacket Classic

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women’s cross-country traveled to Lamoni Oct. 23 for the Yellowjacket Classic and finished 16th in the team competition.
The meet was the last of the regular season for the Bears, who were led by freshman Katie Clark of Gilbert. She finished 66th with a time of 21 minutes, 57 seconds. Sophomore Kari Sylvester of Bondurant was 89th in 23:58, and sophomore Kelsie Jo Van Kooten of Pella was 97th in 24:57.
Truman State won the team championship with 58 points. Grand View University’s Obsie Birru took the individual title. Her time was 17:39.
DMACC enters postseason competition Oct. 29 when the Bears compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Super Regionals Championship at Council Bluffs.
