DMACC Men's Golf team Ties for Seventh at Tiger Invitational

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Blue men’s golf team tied North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) for seventh place in the Tiger Invitational April 28 at Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown.
The Bears finished the tournament with a team total of 332 strokes, 39 strokes behind the winning total of 293 by the American Institute of Business (AIB). DMACC White finished 11th with a team score of 340 strokes.
Sophomore Collin Hackett of Carroll led DMACC Blue with a five-over-par 75 and tied for seventh place in the individual competition. Sophomore Austin Gregersen of Ames tied for 32nd with an 83, sophomore Matt Mikkelsen of Panora tied for 38th with an 85 and freshman Taylor Eichinger of Huxley shot an 89 and finished 45th.
Freshmen Brad Hoskins of Algona and Ethon Nelson of DeWitt led DMACC White with rounds of 82 and tied for 27th. Sophomore Joey Lester of Ames shot an 84, good for a tie for 36th and freshman Mike Colson of Dubuque finished 46th after a round of 92.
AIB’s Bobby Brooks took medalist honors with a 67.
The DMACC men’s golf team will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI tournament May 2 and 3 at the Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge.
