Pierson to Play Volleyball at DMACC

Pierson was a starter and lettered for three years at Roland Story. She was a Heart of Iowa Conference (HOIAC) All Conference Honorable Mention in 2008, a unanimous HOIAC First Team selection in 2009, a Class 2A South Central All-District 2009 selection, named to the All Tribute Team in 2009 and a Class 2A Honorable Mention All-State selection.

During her senior season, Pierson was named to the HOIAC All Conference unanimous First Team, a Class 2A South Central All-District selection, named to the All-Tribute Team and a Class 2A Honorable Mention All-State selection. She was also the school team captain and club team captain.

Pierson has also played varsity basketball for the past three years.

“Mia will be a welcome addition to the squad starting in the fall,” said DMACC Head Volleyball Coach Patty Harrison. “Her skills will definitely benefit the DMACC volleyball program.”

Pierson joins the Bears, who have advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Volleyball Tournament four of the last five years. The Bears had a 26-15 overall record in 2010.
