Jennifer Geer from Clarinda High School has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). Geer is a four-year member of the Clarinda girls’ golf team. She was a two-time Hawkeye 10 Conference champion and the conference runner-up as a sophomore. Geer was also a three-time district champion, a two-time regional champion and a regional runner-up.
Geer is a three-time individual qualifier to the girls state golf tournament and tied for second at the 2010 state tournament. She tied for fifth in 2008 and finished sixth in 2009.
In addition to her individual state tournament accomplishments, Geer led Clarinda to a second-place finish in the team competition at the 2010 state tournament. She also led the Cardinals to a fifth-place finish at the 2008 state tournament.
Geer finished fifth in the Iowa Women’s Junior Amateur in 2010 and was a member of the Iowa 4-State Team in 2010.
Geer also participated in volleyball for four years, helping the Cardinals to the state tournament in 2010. She has also participated in basketball for four years, was a member of Family, Career and Community Leaders of American (FCCLA) for four years and served as class president for three years. Geer is the Clarinda High School student body president, and she is a two-year member of the National Honor Society. Geer has participated in the school choir for two years and theater for one year. She was a Homecoming attendant as a freshman and a Homecoming queen candidate as a senior.
Geer’s future plans include attending DMACC for two years and receiving an RN degree. She then plans to attend the University of Iowa to obtain a BSN and eventually a master’s degree in anesthesia.
“Jenny is a tough competitor, and has been successful in whatever she takes on.” DMACC women’s golf coach Larry Briley said. “She is a great addition to DMACC golf.”
Geer is the daughter of Sue and Lyle Geer.
