Guidelines
for Required Assessment
DMACC requires assessment of all new full-time students (12
credit hours or more Fall & Spring semesters, 8 credit
hours or more Summer semester). This assessment provides information
about students academic skills in reading, writing,
and mathematics. Assessment information is then used in course
selection and schedule planning.

Assessment Center |
Options (only one option is required) for completing the assessment
requirement:
- Testing on campus. To schedule
testing, contact the campus nearest you for an appointment.
- Submitting an ACT of 19 or
higher in reading, writing, and math. (All ACT scores must
be sent).
**If ACT scores are more than 3 years old, the student is
encouraged to complete option 1.
- Providing evidence of successful
college experience in math, reading, and writing course
work.
**If college experience is older than five (5) years, students
are strongly encouraged to take the COMPASS test.

of C or higher in 6 hours of college-level academic
course work such as psychology, sociology, economics,
etc., and/or vocational technical course work
requiring comparable reading skills |

of C or higher in a college-level mathematics

Students planning to enroll part-time
are encouraged to:
- Complete a mathematics assessment
before enrolling for a math class or a class with a math
prerequisite.
- Complete a writing assessment
before enrolling for a writing class.
- Complete a reading assessment
before enrolling for a third credit class.
If you need to test,
call the campus you plan to attend to make a reservation.
If you need to test with an accommodation because of a disability,
you will need to provide documentation of the disability and
make arrangements with the testing center on the campus you
