DMACC Baseball Advancing to Division II College World Series
Nic Obey of Chatfield, MN scores as Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) defeated Miles Community College of Miles City, Montana 13-4 in the 2008 Division II Baseball Northwest District Tournament held May 17 and 18 at Memorial Park in Boone. DMACC also defeated Madison Area Technical College 11-2 and 7-2 in the double elimination tournament to advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II College World Series to be held May 24-30 in Millington, TN.
The DMACC Boone Bears, which are 48-16 under first year Head Baseball Coach Dan Fitzgerald, will play Louisiana State University in Eunice at 7:30 p.m., Sat., May 24 in the opening round of the eight-team double elimination national tournament.
The last time DMACC advanced to the national tournament was in 1982 under Coach John Smith. DMACC is ranked 11th in the nation.
