Dose Named New Cross-Country Coach

February 4, 2010

Jim Dose has been named the new DMACC cross-country coach.

Dose, who is an Academic Achievement Center Instructor on the DMACC Boone Campus, will remain as an instructor while assuming the cross-country coaching responsibilities.

“We are excited that Jim is going to be our women’s cross-country coach,” said DMACC Athletic Director Orv Salmon. “He is an experienced coach and is even more importantly, someone who is great at working with young people.”

Dose is no stranger to the coaching profession.

“I coached football, basketball and track at various times at the high school level for a total of 31 years including the last 14 years in Boone,” said Dose.

Dose has also coached at Hampton-Dumont and West Marshall. He has coached many state qualifiers, state place winners and a handful of state champions in various events during his track career.

“I’m excited to take on a new challenge,” said Dose. “I hope to help DMACC women’s cross-country improve to the point of being on par with the other great athletic programs we have here.”

Cross- country is one of the newest athletic programs to be added to the DMACC Boone Campus. DMACC will begin its fourth season of women’s cross- country in the fall. Other athletic programs include: volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, men’s golf and women’s golf.
