EligibilityAnnually, approximately 100,000 students are inducted into the International Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa. To be eligible for membership a student must complete a minimum of twelve hours of associate degree course work (community college credits) and reach a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. Students generally must maintain a high academic standing throughout their enrollment in the two-year college. Important Note: For students who have "old" grades pulling down their current overall GPA, students may recalculate their GPA using only the last five year's grades if that helps. If you need help recalculating your GPA please contact the Phi Theta Kappa Advisor on your campus.
Please keep in mind that membership to Phi Theta Kappa is not contingent upon a commitment of your time! You may have already earned the privilege of joining this International Honor Society because of your outstanding academic record. Any donation of your time and talents to your local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is voluntary on your part (and appreciated).
