Des Moines Area Community College.

About Career Advantage

DMACC and area high schools have formed a partnership to offer high school students the opportunity to earn college credit. Juniors and seniors are able to enroll and complete Career Advantage classes either at their home high school or at DMACC.

About Career Advantage
Registration
Students need to speak with their high school guidance counselor about enrolling in Career Advantage classes. Registration for a dual credit course takes place in the classroom during the first week of each semester. Students are asked to complete a DMACC registration form and will be given a parent awarenes form for parents to sign.

College Credits
Students may use their college credit toward a two-year degree at DMACC. Students may also transfer credits to a four-year institution. DMACC has transfer agreements with Drake University, Grand View College, Iowa State University, University of Iowa and University of Northern Iowa. Other institutions may also honor DMACC credit. It is the responsibility of the student to communicate with other colleges to decide if and how credit will be accepted.

Cost
Tuition for Career Advantage courses are covered through an agreement with the local school district and DMACC.

Grades
Final grade reports are issued from the Office of Academic Records approximately two to three weeks after class ends.
