Return Policy

All refunds and exchanges must have a sales-receipt dated for the current term. No exceptions.

Textbooks must be returned within 14 days from the start of the course.

All merchandise returned must be in new condition, unmarked, free of damage and soil, in original unopened packaging, and seals must be intact. We reserve the right to judge the condition of any returned items. Defective NEW books will be replaced immediately with receipt. Used books are not guaranteed.

Workbooks, lab manuals or study guides with markings or missing pages are not returnable.

No refund will be given for books used in the Academic Achievement Center.

Refund for short term courses only if class is cancelled or dropped. Textbooks must be returned within 2 business days from the first day of class, whether the class was cancelled or dropped, to receive a refund. (Drop slip also required.)

Refunds for purchases made with cash and check will be given in the form of a DMACC check.

Any purchases paid by check are not returnable before 10 business days.

Purchases

Please purchase your books at the campus location of your class.  Ankeny Campus Knowledge Knook Bookstore mail order forms are available for all off-campus and TV courses.  MasterCard, VISA and Discover charge cards are accepted.

A picture ID is required for ALL purchases paid with a check. All checks are payable to DMACC or Knowledge Knook. Checks must be written to the bookstore for the amount of purchase only.  Students receiving financial assistance must contact Student Accounts before purchasing books and supplies and are required to have a picture ID for Bookstore purchases with their financial assistance.

Buyback Policy

At the end of each semester (during FINALS WEEK ONLY) the Knowledge Knook Bookstores sponsor a textbook buyback.

The bookstores make every effort to provide used textbooks to the students.  A list of the books that the bookstores (not wholesalers) will buy is posted outside the bookstores at least 2 weeks prior to Finals.

Not all books purchased during the semester will be bought back for the following reasons:

• The instructor has not requested the use of the book again.
• The course is not offered the next semester.
• The bookstore is overstocked on the books.
• A new edition has been printed.
• The book contains a cassette or floppy disk.
• The book contains dated material, tear-out pages, or spiral bound.

Company wholesalers will also be present during Finals Week (all campuses) and twice a semester (selected campuses only) to purchase additional titles.  Wholesale prices are based on national demands and resale value.  Dates and times will be posted at least 2 weeks prior to the wholesale buy.
