A Dream in Doubt Documentary

The DMACC Diversity Commission, in collaboration with the Des Moines Art Center and Statewide Iowa Public Television (IPTV), will be showing the documentary, A Dream in Doubt on Sunday, April 6th at the Des Moines Art Center at 4700 Grand in Des Moines. Refreshments will be served at 1:30 p.m. with the documentary shown at 2 p.m., followed by a panel discussion starting at 3 p.m. Panelists include Gurwinder Kapur and Jasvinder Kakar from the Iowa Sikh Association, Water Reed Jr., Director of the Iowa Department of Human Rights and Rekha Basu, columnist with the Des Moines Register. The event is free and open to the public.
A Dream in Doubt is an immigrant story in a world in which patriotism has morphed into murder. When Rana Singh Sodhis brother is killed in Americas first post 9/11hate-based murder, he begins a journey to reclaim his American dream and fight the hate that continues to threaten his community. This documentary of one mans odyssey from persecution in India to embracing America as his homeland proves that courage and hope have the power to overcome hate. The 56-minute documentary is directed by Tami Yeager.
A Dream in Doubt will be broadcast at 11 p.m., Sun., May 25th on the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens on statewide Iowa Public Television.
