Campaign Features

:30 Television Spot

Twenty-five DMACC students participated in the making of the “Life’s Calling” TV commercial. More than seven hours of video was shot to make a 30-second message. Locations included Jordan Creek Mall, West Glen Town Center and DMACC’s Ankeny Campus.

The Life’s Calling initiative was developed in collaboration with talented staff from Solutions, Inc., and Strategic America, both well-known Des Moines advertising agencies.

The goal of the TV spot is to introduce the Life’s Calling theme to Central Iowans and encourage people to examine what they do for a living and where they want to go in life.

Music

Music is a crucial element in the “Life’s Calling” campaign because it evokes just the right mood and supports the DMACC attributes we want to communicate—excitement, optimism, friendliness and fun.

Three audio/video experts from Applied Art and Technology—Tom Dalton, Neil Zaugg and Scott Kaven—all had a hand in creating the musical score exclusively for the Life’s Calling theme.

The three digital artists and video experts have also worked on projects for Slipknot, the internationally known band from Des Moines.

Radio Spots

Two 30-second radio spots were created for the “Life’s Calling” campaign—one for high school-age students and one for people already out in the world. Produced in Des Moines at Radio Garage, the spots will be broadcast hundreds of times by Central Iowa radio stations.

The message reinforces other communications and is designed to be both interesting and entertaining to its target audiences.
