DMACC HOSTS KITE FESTIVAL
Posted 09/19/07
The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Carroll Campus invites area families to participate in the first annual DMACC Kite Festival.
The Kites Over DMACC kite festival will be held from noon to 3 p.m., Sun., Sept. 30 on the DMACC Carroll Campus.
A kite-building workshop will also be held starting at noon on the Carroll Campus. The kite-flying workshop will focus on building a simple kite for young flyers. The kite kits cost $3 each and include everything you need to fly a kite, except for a gusty breeze. The kite kits are free if you donate a new or clean slightly used coat to the DMACC/KCWI23 Winter Warmth Coat Drive.
The general public is encouraged to fly their own kites or bring a lawn chair and enjoy the festivities. There will also be a free ice cream social for the first 200 people. For more information, contact Ciel Friess at (515) 964-6813.
