Three DMACC Professors Are Now Certified Chefs
Posted 1/17/08
Three Iowa Culinary Institute (ICI) Professors at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) have passed the certification requirements to become Certified Executive Chefs.
Karla Boetel, Bill Easter and Phil Carey of Ankeny have been certified by the American Culinary Federation as Executive Chefs. To achieve this lofty stature, all three had to pass a written exam and a practical exam, and they had to have work experience.
“This designation is the benchmark of quality for chefs nationwide,” said DMACC Arts & Sciences Academic Dean Jim Stick. “This professional achievement recognizes that the Iowa Culinary Institute Executive Chefs are outstanding culinary educators who teach and practice their profession at the highest level.”
Iowa Culinary Institute Program Chair Robert Anderson has been a Certified Executive Chef since 1992 and is also a Certified Culinary Educator.
