DMACC Hosts Division II Baseball Northwest District Tournament

Tournament ScheduleDes Moines Area Community College (DMACC) will host the 2008 Division II Baseball Northwest District Tournament in Boone on Sat., May 17 and Sun., May 18.  The winner of the double elimination tournament will advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II College World Series to be held May 24-30 in Millington, TN.

The DMACC Boone Bears, with a 45-16 record under first year Head Baseball Coach Dan Fitzgerald, will play Madison Area Technical College at 11 a.m., Sat., May 17.  The Wisconsin team has a 38-16 record.

Madison Area Technical College will then play at 2 p.m. against Miles Community College from Miles City, Montana, which brings a 39-16-1 record into the tournament.   DMACC will play against Miles Community College at 5 p.m.

Two games could be played on Sunday to determine the champion.  If a team is 2-0 after the first day, they will play the team that is 1-1 at noon on Sun., May 18 with an “if needed” game scheduled for 3 p.m. for double elimination.

If teams are 1-1 after the first day, Miles Community College will play Madison Area Technical College at noon on Sunday. The winner will play DMACC at 3 p.m. on Sunday for the championship.
