What is College Prep?

College Prep is a college preparatory program for students of color, recent immigrants, low-income, and first-generation college bound students. The mission of College Prep, as a component of Community and Workforce Partnerships overall purpose, is to increase educational opportunities for these targeted populations as well to assist students gain access to higher education.

Educational Outreach Advisors design and facilitate student centered sessions throughout the year either individually or in small groups, to provide strategies for success. These sessions provide information regarding the various career programs, career assessment/planning, as well as encourage and motivate students to enroll in college prep courses in high school. Visits to DMACC campuses are also arranged.

In addition, Education Outreach Advisors help students navigate through the admissions and financial aid process with searching for scholarships, filing a FAFSA form on-line or interpreting an award letter.

Career Expo

The Career Expo initiative includes trips to DMACC campuses. Career Expo is designed to increase awareness among underserved or underrepresented students regarding high demand / high wage careers, and increase student enrollment in these high demand career programs.
