Looking ahead, there is a great need for civil engineering technicians for the booming construction industry in Iowa and the country. To meet this need, Des Moines Area Community College's Boone campus offers an Associates of Applied Science (A.A.S) in Civil Engineering Technology. The degree is designed to be completed in approximately 18 months (4 semesters), but it can also be completed more slowly on a part-time basis. The program includes courses in computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), highway design, surveying, global positioning systems, materials testing, structures, and construction inspection. The coursework also includes a paid internship that gives students real world experience. Check out the program courses page to see a full list of coursework.

The only requirements for entry into the program are completion of an application, satisfaction of assessment requirements, and attendance at any required information/registration sessions. To learn more about the background courses and skills that are recommended before entering the program, refer to the academic skills guide for civil engineering technology.
