1974

  • Moved to old Sabin Elementary building

1978

  • DMACC Board votes to build new campus at 1100 7th Street, Des Moines

1979

  • Groundbreaking for 31,590 sq. ft. bldg.

1980

  • September – classes began at current campus

1987

  • Dr. Fred Gilbert appointed Dean

1988

  • Expansion of building to 66,736 sq. ft.

1990

  • Dr. Mary Chapman appointed Executive Dean


1994

  • Completion of Zack E. Hamlett Children’s Center

1999

  • 1500 students
  • 26 full-time faculty
